At Great Southern Archers in Strathalbyn on Saturday morning, 5 compound archers; Garry Oster, Greg Mitchell, Todd Wallace, Kathy and Roger Bridges and 2 arbalists (crossbow shooters), John Clark and Christine Widmark took to the field course for the first time this year. With the 3 groups moving around the course, it took them approximately 2.5 hours to complete the 24 targets. With one particular target where they have to shoot between the fork of a tree.
In the afternoon, several club members took to the target range. Steve Rooney shot a Fita 60 - 30 arrows at each 60, 50 and 40 metres finishing on a good score. Paula Songhurst continued to improve her shooting technique using her crossbow and Nigel Songhurst used the 22lb recurve bow, grouping his arrows into the gold and red inner circles of the target. AJADs member Brayden Johns also shot at 20 metres with good accuracy hitting the gold more times than not. Brothers Kyle and Blake Friedel returned to archery with Kyle resighting in his compound bow at 40, 30 and 20 metres and Blake putting in a good practice with his sporting crossbow at 35 metres.
Allen Stribling coached several of the archers in helping them to improve their shooting technique by changing their stance and showing them a better release method thereby helping to improve their scores.
Field Scores: John Clark-307, Garry Oster-283, Christine Widmark-223, Todd Wallace-197.
